Meet Captain Rod
Rodney Brandenburg (Rod to his friends) has spent his entire life on the water. His family has worked and played here since 1950. His first boat named WenRod (the boat belong to his sister Wendy too !) was used to explore every island and canal in Pinellas County. When the summer came he spent all his time fishing and diving with his father or working as a deckhand on one of the headboats in Clearwater City Marina on Clearwater Beach. Later on he would captain the fishing headboat Super Queen where he learnd how to use LORAN A. ! Then LORAN C came along. And now there is G.P.S. If it's in the Gulf of Mexico, there 's a good chance Rod has dived it !
In his mid twenties Rod spent 3 years working in the southern Bahamas teaching people to sail and dive.
Clearwater Beach was never far from Rod's mind .
He started Dive Clearwater with a small 22' center console boat "PLUNGER I" . In 1989 he meet Maria Di Cesare, an executive with Estee' Lauder in the U.K. and they married in 1992 . From there they built Dive Clearwater into the largest and best dive charter service on the west coast of Florida .
In 1996 Rod and Maria teamed up with Chip Carter and WTVT FOX 13 to film and produce "Sunken Chip", a weekly television segment dedicated to SCUBA diving the Gulf of Mexico in the Tampa Bay area. The show can be seen every Tuesday on FOX 13 on the 5:30 news.
Working in the film industry since 1984 Rod has worked with several stars and celebreties. " Of all the talented people I've worked with, Don Ameche was not only talented, but a true gentleman".
Today, Rod has honed the business to fit the passengers needs. A small and personalized service that allows you to relax and enjoy your day on the water.
Not suprisingly with Maria's background, she has been setting records and winning awards selling Real Estate in the Tampa Bay area.
